Merchandising & Apparel
My professional foundation began with apparel and a Bachelor of Design from Ryerson’s School of Fashion. During my time in school, I travelled abroad to Amsterdam to attend an exchange program in partnership with Amsterdam’s Fashion Institute (AMFI) which was a hyper-conceptual artistic ying to Ryersons’ super-technical production yang.
After graduating, I began work as a production manager for YM Inc. in Toronto, and within 4 years the role evolved into buying and merchandising for Bluenotes. During my evenings and weekends, I ran a e-commerce business called Savannah Boutique, which sold locally produced jewellery and accessory designs.
Once recruited by Free People (URBN Inc.) I moved to Philadelphia to manage the wholesale intimate apparel business. This was well suited to my experience: a merchandising role that was grounded in an understanding of apparel design, fit, product development and production.
